Spanish Fort, AL

Helen Allison St. Clair, born July 23, 1932, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013, peacefully while living at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Mrs. St. Clair was born in Stevenson, AL and attended the University of Alabama and University of Delaware. Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, mentor and friend. After raising her family she went on to become a Certified Association Executive and served as the Executive Director for the Mississippi Optometric Association until retiring in 2006.

She lived in Madison, MS for over 30 years where she was a member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church, serving on several committees including her favorite, Missions. Her volunteer work with the Red Cross for over 40 years, was honored with the Clara Barton Award. She served on the Board of Directors of the Southern College of Optometry, the American Optometric Association and the American Society for Association Executives. Helen was blessed to travel the world during her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George M. and Frances Grider Allison, her brother, Sam (Annette) Allison and brother-in-law Kenneth Devers. Survivors include her daughter, Loyce St. Clair (Dave Daniels) of Daphne, AL; sons, Fred W. St. Clair, Jr. (Maureen) of Natchez, MS and Thomas R. St. Clair (Beth) of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Carolyn McMahan (Wayne) of Stevenson, AL and Anne Devers of Scottsboro, AL and a brother, Don Allison (Mary) of Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Hughes Funeral Home, 7951 American Way in Daphne.

Funeral services will be at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL at 5:00pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 with visitation beginning at 4:00pm until service time. Interment will follow in Stevenson City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses, caregivers and support staff of Bay Ridge at Westminster Village for all their kindness, care and compassion.
