George Newton Pettis, Jr., 34, born in Fairhope, formerly of Brewton, AL and a resident of Bay Minette, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 10, 2013. He was a graduate of W.S. Neal High school and was employed as an electrician with ISC Contractors. George loved everybody he met and they loved him, too. He spent most of his life working as a mechanic, but more than anything, he loved his music and writing songs. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kimberly Van Delia Sawyer, his father in law, William Jackson Boutwell, Jr. and his step son, Richard Earl Sims, Jr.
Surviving are, his loving wife of 15 years, Gail B. Pettis of Bay Minette; his father, George N. Pettis, Sr. of Brewton; two sons, Jim (Harmony) Bodtke, Jr. of Daphne, and Benjamin (Dawn) Bodtke of North Dakota; one daughter, Tabitha (Robert) Sims Pittman of Loxley; two brothers, Michael Pettis of Daphne, Elec Pettis of Mobile; one sister, Pennie Pettis of Brewton; two step brothers, Tommy Lee of Tallahassee, Florida and Brian Lee of Missouri; mother in law, Catherine Boutwell and his daughter in law, Ashley Stack Sims; eight grandchildren, Cameron Bodtke, Cameron Sims, Emma Grace Bodtke, Jamisyn Bodtke, Harleigh Bodtke, Kadence Bodtke, Braden Pittman, and Serenity Pittman.
