Dorothy Wallace Barkmann, 86, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 in her home.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 67 years, Albert ‘Sparky’ Barkmann, Jr., one son; Albert E. ‘Sparky’ (Jackie Fowler) Barkmann, III of The Woodlands, TX, one daughter; Sherri (Larry) Nichols of Daphne, AL, formerly of Selma, AL and ten grandchildren; Albert E. (AL) Barkmann, IV (Michelle Finney Barkmann), Lauren Nichols (Jason) McKay of Mobile, AL, Kate Barkmann of New Orleans, LA, Lee (Ashley) Nichols of Loxley, AL, Eric (Andrea) Barkmann of Houston, TX, Emily Nichols (Michael) Tupper of San Antonio, TX, Carly Nichols (Zach) Trost of Montgomery, AL, Natalie Barkmann of The Woodlands, TX, Christina Barkmann, of The Woodlands, TX and Blake Nichols of Daphne, AL; five great-grand children; Madison Grace Nichols, Albert E. Barkmann, V, Jackson Barkmann, Brooklyn Harris, and Julia Harris; her sisters; Margaret Nichols of Marion, AL, Martha Wallace of Marion, AL and Patt Stewart of Montevallo, AL. and her brothers; John William ‘Bill’ Wallace of Heiberger, AL and Joe Wallace of Selma, AL.
Dorothy and Sparky built and operated Sparks R.V. Park in Selma for 40 years. She was a Godly woman who cherished spending time with her family. Mrs. Barkmann made countless sacrifices putting the wants and needs of others before her own.
A memorial service will be 11:00am, Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Elkdale Baptist Church, 2221 Elkdale St., Selma, AL. 36701.
