Daniel J. Castrillo, 42, of Daphne, passed away in a local hospital on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
Dan served in the U.S. Army for 7 years at Fort Benning, GA. He also served with the Army Rangers in the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell, KY, and the US Army MP Co. in Baumholder, Germany. For 3 years Dan was a veteran of the US Navy Reserve SP’s stationed at Naval Station, Pascagoula.
He earned his BS at the University of Alabama in education and received his paramedic degree from the University of South Alabama where he also taught EMS. He was a paramedic with Medstar Ambulance Service and employed by the City of Daphne as a Firefighter, the City Fire Inspector and Community Educator for the last 6 years. Dan was a substitute teacher at Daphne High School and he taught Sunday School at Christ the King Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Ramon Castrillo and his brother, David R. Castrillo.
Surviving are his wife, Joanne T. Castrillo, Daphne; two sons, Nicholas R. Castrillo and Alexander J. Castrillo both of Daphne; daughter, Savannah D. Castrillo, Daphne; two brothers, Michael P. Castrillo, New Orleans, LA and Patrick S. and wife Bryony Castrillo; sister, Christy S. Melrose and his mother, Doris Castrillo, all of Huntsville, AL and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Daphne Civic Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 1:00pm at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be in Jubilee Memorial Gardens.
