Barbara Jo Attaway went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2015.  She celebrated life on this earth for 64 years. A native of Birmingham, Alabama until 2 years ago when she decided Fairhope was the place to be. She was a dedicated history teacher for 31 years, a lover of cats and anything Disney, with a great appreciation for the art of animation.  Barbara loved her family and friends while maintaining friendships all over Alabama.

Her death was preceded by her father, Eugene Ervin Attaway, brother Richard Stephen Attaway and nephews Richard Galatoire Attaway and Creighton Richard Galatoire Attaway.  She is survived by her mother, Martha Jean Attaway, of Fairhope, Alabama; her brother, Allen Ransom Attaway, spouse, Nancy Moore Attaway of Galveston, TX; sister-in-law, Duane Galatoire Attaway; nieces, Ashley Elizabeth Attaway and Carolyn Moore Attaway,  all of New Orleans, LA;  nephew Jason Scott Attaway, spouse Rebecca Smith Attaway;  great nephew  Isaace Eugene Attaway; great niece Claire Nicole Attaway of Seabrook,TX and her many friends.

The family will celebrate Barbara’s life Saturday, April 17, 2015 at The Brennity in Fairhope at 4:00PM.  A special gratitude of thanks goes to the people at The Brennity of Fairhope who loved Barbara and gave her a wonderful home for the last two years. Expressions of condolence may be offered at Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL 36526.
