September 21, 1938 – January 17, 2010 In Loving Memory.
Barbara Ann Shoemaker-Varner, 71, of Lancaster entered into rest after a courageous battle with cancer Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Grand Bay, AL. Barbara was born on Sept. 21, 1938, in Lancaster, daughter of Edward & Dorothy Herzog.

She attended Sacred Heart Academy and Immaculata College

Barbara owned and operated Blue Ribbon Dog Grooming and was one of the first dog breeders of Bison Frise’ in the United States. Barbara’s hobbies included her pets, bird watching, gardening, decorating and cooking. She was known as “Pine Street Mom” to many friends of the family while living in Lancaster. She was of the Christian faith.

She is survived by her six children; Michael E. Shoemaker of Williston, VT; Theresa L. Swann of Decatur, IL; Suzanne M. Hager of Willow Street, PA; Linda J. Waite of Mechanicsburg, PA; Laurie A. Shearer of Smoketown, PA and Christopher L. Shoemaker of Grand Bay, AL; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Fitting, Justin Nunez, Brandon Nunez, Taylor Hager and Brittany Shearer.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service at Lampeter Church of the Brethren, 1900 Lampeter Road, Lampeter, PA.

Burial will be in Mellinger’s Mennonite Cemetery, 1918 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA.
