William F. “Bill” Powell
William Floyd Powell, 70, passed away, Saturday, March 28, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray O. and Virginia Sullivan Powell. Bill was a State champion track star at Murphy High School and graduated in 1962. He was a veteran of the US Air Force reserve where he served as a load master. After working more than 30 years, he retired from Scott Paper Company/Kimberly Clark as a millwright. He will also be remembered for his many years as an avid Alabama Crimson Tide Football Fan.
Mr. Powell is survived by his loving wife of nineteen years, Patricia M. Powell. He will be greatly missed by his only son, William F. Powell, II and his wife, Marie along with his mother, Suzie Powell; his only brother, Ray O. Powell, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne and his two beautiful grandchildren, William F. Powell, III and Sarah Evelyn Powell. Bill was very close to his three stepsons and their wives, Mark and Tiffany, Scott and Larinda, Brent and Taylor; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rachel, Ashton, Maris, Maysa and Jaiden. All of his family and friends, will feel the loss of Bill in their lives.
A memorial to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday April 9, 2015 at Christ United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Kinder.
