May 30, 1916 – January 24, 2009 In Loving Memory.
Mona Harper Charbonnet died peacefully at her home in Daphne, Alabama on Saturday, January 24th, 2009. She was a resident of New Orleans from 1938 until 2005 when she moved to Daphne.
She was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on May 30th, 1916. After graduating from Margaret Eaton College in Nova Scotia, she came to New Orleans to teach at The Academy of the Sacred Heart. While there, she met the love of her life, Dr. L Sidney Charbonnet, Jr., and they were married in 1940.
She will be greatly missed by her son and daughter-in _law, Mr. and Mrs. L. Sidney Charbonnet, III ( Millicent Donovan); her grandchildren, Mona Charbonnet Musser (John H., V) of New Orleans, L. Sidney Charbonnet, IV (Margaret Christy) of Pass Christian; Elizabeth Charbonnet Talmadge ( J. Daniel, Jr.) of Dothan ; and Millicent Donovan Charbonnet of Pass Christian; her great grand children John, Byrne, and Donovan Musser; Christy, Sidney, and Mary Lucy Charbonnet; Harper, Elizabeth, Helen, Millicent, and Joseph Talmadge. She will also be missed by her sister, Barbara Harper Meehan, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Her husband, Dr. Charbonnet, predeceased her, as did her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dufferin Harper (Alice Byrne) of Glen Byrne, Westfield, New Brunswick; her sister, Doreen Mary Harper of New Orleans; and her brothers, Judge James Harper and Donal Harper of Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Mrs. Charbonnet was recognized for her generous dedication to many community organizations throughout her life. She was very involved with the Orleans Parish Medical Auxiliary and served as president of Hotel Dieu Medical Auxiliary. She loved entertaining and spending time with family and friends.
