Mary Ellen Nowicki, 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Spanish Fort. She was raised in Toronto, Canada, and was a former resident of Cleveland, Ohio. In 1962, she married the love of her life, Ralph. In 1983, they moved to Geneva County, then Summerdale, Fairhope and finally became a resident of Westminster Village in 2008. Mary loved to meet and get to know people, she never met a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ann, and her brother, Bob.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Nowicki of Spanish Fort and by many friends in the area and at Westminster Village.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne, AL. A graveside service will follow at 12:30pm at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL, 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL. Rev Matthew J. O’Connor will be the celebrant. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL 36526.

    I got to know Mary Ellen while we worked at the Catholic Social Services Thrift Shop. Mary Ellen was
    a good friend and we enjoyed many laughs together. Heaven needed another angel to help light the
    stars.

    I met Mary Ellen many years ago when we were @ St. Patrick’s. I used to pick her up when you lived in Fairhope. I was a ‘new’ Catholic & she taught me how to do linens. I now go to St Lawrence. Mary Ellen was a fine lady & It was a privelege to know her as a friend.
