In Loving Memory
November 07, 1924 – December 15, 2014
Martha “Jean” Wheatley, 90, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014. She loved to garden, cook for others and always made her home open and available for her friends and family. Jean was a great inspiration to her husband and had a love for all animals; her greatest joy is her dog, Tyler 2.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wheatley; parents, Dewey and Flossie May and her grandson, John Wheatley Wireman.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Wireman.
At a later date Jean will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and her grandson in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL 36526.
I am so sorry for your loss. I have found a couple of scriptures that have truly given me comfort during such a time of tragedy. The promise we are given at 1 Corinthians 15:26 that says very soon ‘death will be brought to nothing’. Then, we have the prospect of being reunited with our loved ones right here on this earth (John 5:28,29). I truly hope this brings you comfort and hope as it has me. With deepest sympathies, Gwen Huckeba and family.
Jackie, I am so sorry to hear of this. Your Mom was an integral part of so many lives.
Thinking of your entire family and sending prayers and best thoughts, especially during this difficult time.
Love, Goebel Family.
Jackie so sorry for your loss. Jean was known and loved by everyone. She was an important part of the neighborhood and my girls early life. They will always remember feeding the fish, getting a tour of the gardens and best of all the strawberry patch. Rest her soul, I am sure god has gotten a wonderful gardener to add to the many wonders of nature. Take care, Tammy, bill, Kristine and danielle
Jackie, I am sorry for your loss. I am praying for you to find peace and comfort I this difficult time. Fondly, Linda
Jackie; My mom, Lola Ashby wanted me to be sure and tell you how sorry she is for the loss of your mom. She really like your mom and enjoyed sewing for her when you all lived in Ypsilanti on Cross Street.. Please know we are praying for comfort for your family at this time.

Jackie and family. Thinking of you at this sad time. The times I was with her, she was showing me around her home/gardens in Dexter with pride. l know that you are surrounded by dear family and friends for comfort and understanding. With love, Susan Johnson.
Jackie, I am so sorry see that your mom passed away. Ken and I were out for a drive in November and drove by her house. I know this is very difficult for you, and I certainly hope that when you’re back in Ann Arbor, you will call me to have a chance to get back together. If there is a memorial service, I want to be there. Thinking of you often, love Carol
