Marie McDuffie Dean, 91, born July 1, 1919 and departed this life on Monday, January 03, 2011.

Mrs. Dean was born in Samson, Alabama to Edwin and Ada McDuffie and moved to Fairhope in 1951. She was a past member of the Fairhope Chapter 127 Order of the Eastern Star and held many offices. She was a faithful member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church since 1951.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leslie Dean; her son, Charles Edward (Gay) Dean; and her grandson, Charles Weslie (Melanie) Dean.

She is survived by a sister, Eddie Mae (Benton) Owens of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; two sons, Richard (Marlene) Dean of Barnwell, Alabama and Dale (Julie) Dean of Pensacola, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Gary (Ola) Dean, Cindy Dean, Jackson Dean, Vicki Dean and Sonny (Shea) Dean; 10 great-grandchildren, Steve Dean, Jessi (Shawn) Carlton,Dennis Dean, McKinzey Dean, Kate Dean, Vladimir Reeves, Tanner Morgan, Jeremy Cox, Alex Carlton and Brian Dean. Mrs. Dean also has a great-great grandson, Nathan Richard Morgan.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Fairhope United Methodist Church building fund.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Fairhope United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mike McKnight.
