In Loving Memory
January 9, 1938 – June 22, 2014
Macks Robert Hastings, age 76, a longtime resident of Robertsdale, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his home. Macks was born in Brewton, Alabama, grew up in Summerdale and attended Foley High School.
He served his country in the Army National Guard. Macks was a member of the Robertsdale Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. He served as Assistant Fire Chief and cook. He worked at Robertsdale Feed & Seed Store for over 30 years.
He was a member and deacon of Robertsdale First Baptist Church. Macks was very community minded. He coached girls softball teams and was truly dedicated to the betterment and improvement of the entire Central Baldwin area.
He was one of the first to volunteer for a fund raising event or a benefit for a needy cause. He had a sense of humor that was unmatched by anyone and could always be counted on for a good joke.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Hastings; his father, John Hastings; 3 brothers, Herbert Hastings, Vernon Hastings and Jack Hastings.
He is survived by his wife, Doris L. Hastings; one son, Macks Robert Hastings II both of Robertsdale and two sisters, Hilda (Frank) Benson of Summerdale and Sue (Frank) Miller of Foley.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Robertsdale First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Loxley. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. at Robertsdale First Baptist Church.

I am praying for the family for peace and strength during this difficult time. Although Uncle Macks was my “great” uncle, he was always around, attended all family functions and was just a funny man. You will be missed.

in the 1940’s. We moved away in 1950 to the Houston area.
