John Oliver Broadus, 71, a native of Mobile and resident of Daphne, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014.  Mr. Broadus owned and worked as an independent electrical contractor as well as teaching 2 decades, retiring from Murphy Area Vocational Center.  He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Fairhope and was an avid Civil War enthusiast.

 Survivors include his wife, three children and other relatives and friends.  A celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. William Parsons officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 am.  Donations in memory of Mr. Broadus may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.  Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at hughesfh.com.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL.

    For many years John was a dear friend. We started and ended our careers at Murphy High School together and I have a thousand memories of our adventures together. I will always remember his kindness, his humor and his love of life. My family and I wish to express our sincere sympathies to Martha and John’s children.
