James Edward Jones, 86, lifelong resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014. James played pro baseball at St. Louis for the Cardinals as a left handed pitcher. He retired from Brookley Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic. In James’ spare time, he loved to go to the flea market.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce M. “Polly” Jones; his son, Michael L. (Linda) Jones of Raliegh, NC; two daughters, Pamela J. Cannon of Birmingham, AL and Kim J. Freeman of Ft. Worth, TX; five grandchildren Allison Riedlinger, Samantha McKenzie, Mandy Cannon, Rachael Cannon, and Josh Cannon, and five great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory in Daphne.

Miss Polly I just heard of Mr. Jimmy’s passing from your daughter Kim today. I ‘m so sorry for your loss. I am so grateful for having to have met ya’ll, even though it was only for a short period in my life. You and Mr. Jimmy would always brigthen up “Neighbor’s” when you would come in. We all are going to miss Mr. Jimmy! His picture will hang proudly in our restaurant for as long as we are here. When things settle down and you get situated please are come by.

Aunt polly so sorry to hear of uncle jimmys passing. he always so funny, but our loss is heavens gain you know him and his brothers are laughing up there and i know mom and dad were there to greet him. much love and prayers ronnie.
Aunt Polly and family, Uncle Jimmy was a very special person who will be sadly missed. My condolences to all of you at this difficult time.
