December 5, 1923 – December 12, 2011 In Loving Memory.
Daphne, AL
Hayne (“Hank”) Perry, 88, of Daphne, Alabama, passed away December 12, 2011. Hank was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn A. Perry, a brother Louis E. (“Bill”) Perry, and long-time companion Bettye Howard.
Hank is survived by his daughter Margo S. Rigby, her husband Jesse, and their children Jennifer Talboy Holt, David Talboy, Danny Rigby and Dena Rigby. Hank has three great-grandsons: Alex Holt, Chapman Holt and Noah Talboy. Hank is also survived by his brother John D. Perry, Jr. and sisters Mary L. Moore and Stella D. Stubbs.
Hank always wanted to be a railroad man, and had the good fortune to live his dream. Starting as a fireman on a steam locomotive, he worked his way through the ranks to become a train engineer on the Frisco line. Hank’s railroad buddies remained a cherished part of his life after retirement. Gary Gilliam was one of those railroad men mentored by Hank. Gary learned from Hank, and over the years Gary and his wife Ruth were loved more like family than friends.
The family extends special thanks to Hank’s neighbor and friend Polly Pinyan, who was always available when Hank needed help in the latter years of his life.
Please join us for a celebration of Hank’s life at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, at Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice. Notes of condolence may be expressed at hughesfh.com
