October 29, 1921 – December 8, 2009 In Loving Memory.
Fred D. Jones, Sr., age 88, a native of Montgomery, AL, and a resident of Daphne, died on December 8, 2009 at a local hospital.

Fred was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II and Korea retiring with the rank of Major. He was also Chief of Air Traffic Control at Mobile’s Bates Field until he retired in 1980. He was a member of Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church in Fairhope, AL.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Marion W. “Max” Jones, a daughter, Laurie Surginer and his parents, King Howard Jones and Annie Mae Boothe Jones, a sister, Doris Mears, and 2 brothers, Howard Jones and Allan Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Frances M. Jones of Daphne; daughter, Jacqueline (John) Sheldon of Huntsville, AL and sons, Fred D. (Tricia) Jones, Jr. of Daphne and Ron (Brenda)Jackson of Daphne; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one brother, John E. Jones of Montgomery, AL.

Funeral services are Monday, December 14, 2009 at Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church, 23050 Highway 98, Fairhope, AL 36532. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am till 12 noon with the funeral beginning at 1pm. Interment with full military honors will be at the Veterans Garden of Jubilee Memorial Gardens, Hwy 181, Daphne.

Memorials may be made to the Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church Building Fund and also to “Honor Flight, South Alabama,” C/O Dr. Barry Booth, Mobile Area Veterans
