In Loving Memory
May 18, 1931 – June 3, 2014
Evelyn Bunn Hill, 83 of Whistler, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family after battling cancer. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and beloved grandmother and great-grandmother.
Evelyn was born on May 18, 1931, in Northport, Alabama to the late Stacy and Cora Bunn. She moved to the Mobile area in her early teen years and was married to Ivan Hill. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2004. She worked at Bemis Bag Plant where she retired after 26 years.
Evelyn was a hardworking quiet woman who will be remembered most for working in her garden and yard, planting flowers, taking care of her family and sitting on her front porch.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Urban (BoBo); grandchildren, three Rodney Urban, Christina Hay (Michael) of Pensacola and Amy-Lynn (Derrick) Sweat of Atlanta; five great-grandchildren Lil Rod Urban, Bell Urban, Bo Urban, Jordan Hay, Emery Hay, and Leah Hay; one brother Jimmy Caroll Bunn (Elizabeth) of Greensboro, Al and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; Special family and friends Searcy and Flossie Bunn , Sis Yeager, The Johnson family, The Gollotte family of the Eight Mile Fruit Stand.
The family would like to thank Dr Michael Finan and staff at USA Mitchell Cancer, Dr Richard Meador and staff at Nephrology Associates, Dr Kenneth Burnham and staff at Cardiology Associates, the staff on the 4600 unit at Mobile Infirmary and the Mercy Medical nurses.
It is the family’s request that donations be made in Evelyn’s memory to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, to help continue the fight and find a cure.
The family will be receiving family and friends at 10:30am and a celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Whistler United Methodist Church, 3102 Whistler St, Mobile, AL 36612.
