Edward Cleo Hill, born in Clinton, Tennessee December 30, 1922, passed away at home in Fairhope, Alabama on January 18, 2012 at 89 years of age. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Frances Lorraine (Brown), parents Bertha Jane Gee (Brown) and Oscar Cleo Hill, step-father Milburn Chester Gee, and one sister, Margaret Humberd.
He is survived by two sons, Dale Edward Hill, of Coal Township, Pa, and Joseph Benson Hill of Fairhope, five grandchildren, Michael, Julia, Daniel, Teresa, and Aaron, and three great grandchildren, Erin, Clayton, and Mikela.
Ed grew up in Cleveland Tennessee, and after serving in the Army Air Force during WWII, worked as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic at Pensacola Naval Air Station for the remainder of his career, retiring to Fairhope in 1986, where he enjoyed making friends and spending time at Quail Creek Golf Club.
Friends are welcome to attend Ed’s burial at the Fairhope Colony Cemetery on Monday January 23, 2012 at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of his life at his home, 157 Fels Avenue, Fairhope.
In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family has suggested donations to Shepherd’s Place, a ministry of the Fairhope United Methodist Church, 155 South Section Street, Fairhope, Al 36532, where Ed enjoyed many hours during his final years dealing with Alzheimers disease.
