Carl Edward Purdum, Sr., 79, of Daphne, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 surrounded by his family.  Mr. Purdum was born in Birmingham, AL and lived in Mobile where he owned and operated P & F Grocery and later worked in the financial services industry.  Carl had lived in Daphne for the last 10 years and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.  He loved spending time with his family and his cherished dog, Andy.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Flowers.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Purdum; daughter, Sharon P. (David) Harkness of Daphne; four sons, Carl Edward (Nicole) Purdum, Jr. of Gautier, MS, John Samuel Purdum of Daphne, Richard Allen Purdum and Ronald Wayne (Tina) Purdum  both of Mobile.  He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Watts of Mobile; three brothers, John F. Purdum of Daphne, Earl (Woody) Purdum of Laurel, MS and Alvin (Hilda) Purdum of Albemarle, NC and six grandchildren, Blake and Hunter Harkness, Katherine and Victoria Purdum and Christy and Ashley Purdum.  His closest friends are Don and BK Hastings and Margie; as well as many much loved relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are his two grandsons Blake and Hunter Harkness, nephew Randall Purdum, and family friends Dr. George Lukes, Byron House and Gary Rosetti.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, December 5, 2013 from 6 pm till 8 pm at Lighthouse Baptist Church 18055 County Road 64 Loxley, AL 36551.  Visitation Friday, December 6, 2013 at 9:00 am until the funeral at 10:00 am with Rev. Wesley Enfinger and Rev. Don Hastings officiating.  Interment will follow in Jubilee Memorial Gardens in Daphne.  Memorials may be made to the church in memory of Carl.   Notes of condolence for the family may be expressed at hughesfh.com.  Funeral arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory of Daphne.
