Betty Irene Whitton, 71, of Mobile, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 after a seven year long battle with lung disease.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alma Langill and David Aylward.
She was a former resident of Salem, MA; Watertown, MA; Framingham, MA; Nashua, NH; San Diego, CA; Lake Bled, Yugoslavia; Corona, CA; Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Yucca Valley, CA; Sandy, UT; and West Salem, WI.
She was born July 13, 1941 in Peabody, Massachusetts. She graduated from San Diego City College, San Diego, CA and received a B.S. in Management from California Coast University, Santa Ana, CA. She held Nursing Home Administrators Licenses from CA and AL. She was beloved by the residents of the Nursing Homes she administered, Lynwood and Sea Breeze Health Center in Mobile, AL and Citronelle Convalescent Center in Citronelle, AL. Her main concern was the health care quality and happiness of the residents.
She was a multi-talented and creative individual with many hobbies. She was a floral designer, cake decorator, clothing and craft designer, sseamstress and embroiderer.
Survivors include her husband Robert, three children,Joseph, Anthony and Linda (Mobile, AL) and granddaughter Aimee Kadera (La Crosse, WI), five sisters Judy Talbot (Salem, MA), Linda Wilson (Loveland, OH), Peggy Aylward (Windermere, FL), Nancy Stevens (Mobile, AL), June Rubideau (New Milford, CT), three brothers Ken Aylward (St. Marys, GA), David Aylward (Wingdale, NY) and Hal Landry (Tecumseh, MI).
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She did everything for everyone she knew. Her kindness and compassion were without bounds. She would give whatever she had even if she needed it to someone who needed it more. There will never be such a radiant, loving, guiding spirit in our lives. Never again will her smile bring joy to those in her presence, never more will her loving embrace comfort and protect, nor will the joy of her walking into a room be felt by all ever again. Her sharp and inquisitive mind will be sorely missed. Her kindness and generosity will never again be experienced, but by those who had the privilege of receiving it. She will be
remembered by her gracious acts as they are passed from one to another. Indeed those who did know her are far better for it. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A memorial service was held on January 24, 2013 at Grace United Methodist Church, Mobile, AL
