September 13, 1927 – March 24, 2008 In Loving Memory.
Betty Ann Sandefur Thomas, born September 13, 1927, passed away Monday, March 24 at the age of 80.

Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, Mrs. Thomas lived most of her life in Birmingham where she was a longtime member of 76th Street Presbyterian Church. She moved several years ago to Daphne, Alabama to be near her two eldest daughters.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Owen Thomas, Jr., her parents, Paul and Sallie Mae Sandefur, a brother, Tommy Sandefur and by her faithful little companion, Maggie.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Deborah Thomas (Scott) Hunter and Sandy Thomas (Don) Groves of Daphne and Sally Thomas (Tim) Duke of Birmingham; 7 grandchildren, Mary Scott Hunter (Jon) Shultz, Betsy Hunter (Ryan) Hughes, Jamie Hunter, Tucker Groves, Margaret Groves (Kevin) Worrell, Jimbo Smith and Haley Smith. She also has 5 great-grandchildren, Nathan Shultz, Annclaire Shultz, Caleb Shultz, Gavyn Hughes and Drake Hughes.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial East, Trussville, AL with graveside services at 12 Noon in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank the staff and employees of Robertsdale Healthcare Center and Covenant Hospice for their kind and gracious care of our mother.
