Mobile, AL

Anne Williams Friedrikis, 78, departed this life on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Born on February 1, 1934, and weighing less than three pounds, her determination was evident right from the start.

She was the first woman employed at the U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Anne”. She retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Office in 1999 after 38 years of Federal Service, which included the Pentagon and Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., as well as Brookley Air Force Base Mobile. Having worked two jobs most of her life, she retired from Gayfer’s Gift Wrap Dept. in 2000 after 25 years of service. She was a remarkable woman who made countless sacrifices throughout her life, putting the wants and needs of others before her own.

In her later years she became “Memaw” to all and cherished spending time with family.

Preceded in death by her parents Florence H. Williams, Clarence H. Williams and Nettie I. Williams, she leaves to cherish her memory three children: Bianca Altieri, Russell Friedrikis (Jane) and Tanya Wade; three grandchildren, Christopher Friedrikis (Jessica), Natalie Altieri and Gena Altieri; two great grandchildren, Ava Ott and Talan Friedrikis; one sister, Cynthia Cottrell; niece, Laura Dugan (Terry), as well as loving extended family in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
