Amy Elizabeth Pounder passed away from us on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Amy’s life would seem too short for many, but those who were touched by her understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her bright smile and unique laugh, along with her glowing personality brought so much joy to our family and friends abroad.

She gave us all such inspiration and hope with her ongoing positive nature and reminded us of the precious purpose of life. As a mother, she provided her sons a great work ethic example and pushed them to understanding the responsibilities that each one of us must attain and uphold. As a wife, to Robert Pounder, Amy provided commitment and love through all of life’s turns. As a grandmother she was caring, nurturing and selfless in her love for life. As a sister, she was always supportive and protective of her ‘little’ brother in all of his endeavors with his own family and life achievements.

Amy is survived by her loving sons, Joshua, Christian Bradley and Nicholas Pounder of Mobile, AL; granddaughter, Brooklyn Pounder; brother, Andy Dean of Thomasville, AL; and partner, Jody Parks of Daphne, AL.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Coastal Church, 11101 County Road 64, Daphne, AL 36526. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL.

What a beautiful spirit Amy was and now she is in Heaven looking down and protecting
the ones she loved with all her heart. I had the privilege of knowing & working with Amy back in her days
of when she was a Ballroom Dancer for Fred Astaire Dance Studio. She also lived at our home for a very short time. We enjoyed her positive attitude, her charming smile, she will be missed very dearly. May GOD
be with her boys & other family members during this time of sorrow. May God give you peace knowing she
is in good hands. Life goes on, and so will the memory of Amy who she touched in her lifetime. GOD Bless! Wanda Stowe, Gary Stowe and family….

I never met Amy but came to know her after the passing of her dad, my Brother-in-law. Wally and David are brothers and when I came into the family I was fortunate to meet her Dad and Susie. After David’s passing I was blessed because I developed a cyber relationship with this wonderful woman and feel today that I do know her. I truly am saddened that our plans for meeting, our days of sharing are not to be as we had hoped but life, indeed, is life. She loved her boys and her Brooklyn and while I do not know Andy at all, I grieve for him as well … Everyone has lost someone who nourished them, was devoted to them, and enjoyed them. Amy was always so enthused and happy and I know that Jody was a huge part of her life. To all of you, I extend my heartfelt sympathies…I count myself as one who also has loved a person and who now has a heavy heart. Wally joins me in hoping that comfort will come in time and that in her reflection, you will greet your tomorrows. God Bless and be gentle with yourselves. As Uncle Bill would say “When you love deeply, it is a given you will grieve deeply”. Let the process take its time not your time and acceptance will come. Jerry and Wally Dean

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Amy thru the National Advisory Council with TSA. From the moment I met her, she was a friend and sister. She was so full of love and life and her kindness was amazing. Her and I would have many talks about her faith in God and how much she had for her family. When I heard the news, my heart stopped. The world lost an a wonderful, kind, caring human being but the Lord above gained such an amazing angel. I will miss her.

To all of Amy’s boys and her special little girl,
As I sit and reflect as a co-worker, friend, and mother, of all the conversations we shared. You all must know how proud she was of each of you, Nick, she was so happy and proud of the decision you made of going into the military. Each day we saw each other she would ask me about my son (Dana) and me about you. As a mother and having your baby embark on a career in the military is two-fold. We are so proud and yet we are so scared. We motivated each other as you both went through your basic training. Not knowing what to expect and we waited, day in and day out on a letter or phone call from you to hear your voice to know you were okay. I’m sure she had plenty of proud moments, but I know of two most recently. The day Brooklyn was born and the day you graduated from basic training. Joshua you gave your mother something she never had the joy of dressing up a girl, from a little Alabama cheerleader to the Halloween get-ups. She loved that baby so much; she lit up the room with her smile as she talked about her. Bradley, you were equally as special because you were hers. Jody, Bayfest will not be the same I know, you were the other love of her life. She loved watching you cut the grass where the dogs had been and the reaction you had. I’m sure you know what I mean!!!! As I close this out just know that we at TSA are missing Amy just as much as you. She was a free spirited person, but she was so compassionate and always thinking of ways to make things better. To be better! I am going to miss her so much and you all as a family stay strong and take care of one another.
You all are in my prayers Lashandra Toney and family…

Our hearts stood still when we learned that our Amy left us so quickly. She was an ANGEL to all of us at Belk, and even though we only had her with us ‘part time’ hours, she immediately became a member of our ‘retail family’. Amy had the most patient ways, never complained, excelled and still, somehow, managed to lift each and every one us up with that smile and quick wit. We extend our heartfelt sympathy, condolences, and prayers to her family and loved ones. Please know how much she cherished each of you. God bless you and may his strength sustain you in the days ahead.
We will always keep her near our hearts, and we miss her dearly.

To Amy’s Dearest Family and especially her Granddaughter,
I pray that the wonderful memories of Amy’s life will, with time, overcome the sadness and pain that have accompanied you all this past week. I only knew Amy for a few short years, and, I particularly remember her dedication to her job, co-workers, and especially her family. She was an inspiration to all of us at TSA and the National Advisory Council. I will always remember the time we spent at TSA Headquarters and Amy’s influential support and enthusiasm for life. Please accept my sincerest condolences on your family’s loss. Grief can be so hard, but our memories help us cope.

We are saddened to learn of Amy’s passing. I regret we didn’t have more time to visit. Our last visit was at David’s memorial, but we kept in touch through the miracles of cyber space. I still have the picture of Amy and Andy and the kids and often reflect on the beautiful families. It is so difficult to lose a parent or brother- especially so young. I still miss my brother David so deeply. Amy is with her dad now. May God be with you and comfort you through the coming weeks and months. Linda and Reggie Fields

I am sure there is more laughter in heaven now that Amy has arrived. What a joyous woman and proud mom. I met her through the TSA National Advisory Council and must say she was always a pleasure to be around. Two things about her I could expect; a laugh and a good story. Those stories usually revolved around her sons, she was just so proud of them. I expect they are proud of her too. Please know that my prayers are with you during this time of sadness and grief. She will be missed and remains with my memories as someone who touched me with her southern manners and deep belief in family.

I knew Amy for many years. She attended Davidson High School with my son Michael and daughter Allison. She was a guest in our home many times. Michael’s high school band used to practice at our house and quite frequently there was a bunch of young people, including Amy, at my house listening to the music. I always loved her. I enjoyed her posts on facebook about her family. I know that she was a devoted mother and grandmother. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Amy at American Express Corporate Travel for ten years (1990-2000) and have just learned of her passing today. I am deeply saddened that we have lost such a positive force in this world. I will remember Amy for her positive attitude, her infectious laugh which would fill the room and her desire to always learn something new. She was a wonderful colleague, a person that I truly enjoyed working with and looked forward to seeing each day. She was also a true and caring friend. We had lost touch over the years but I have never forgotten her and will always consider her a friend. To her family and friends I offer my sincere condolences. May the memories that you will always treasure offer comfort during this time. When you feel down, remember her beautiful smile and wonderful laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dearest Amy, I will miss seeing your beautiful face and sweet smile and talking with you across our fence. Your love for people and animals was without limits and we should all have such compassionate hearts. Thinking of you Josh, Brad, and Nick whom your mother loved with a love so fierce and strong only another mother can understand it. Jody, I saw how happy you made her and saw her eyes light up with love when she talked about you.
I will miss you, Amy, but every time I see gladiolus I will think of you and smile.
    Love you all, Faye

There aren’t many words that express the great loss we feel as we say ‘see ya’ later’ to our dear friend Amy. I remember her many messages and random thought bubbles as we pondered on how we could change our agency by injecting each day with so much joy, laughter and positivity that others would catch on and find themselves turned on and engaged “just because”. She was a woman of great integrity and possessed such a zest for life, love and family (hers and everyone else’s). I was supposed to be her mentor, but often found great encouragement from our brief conversations and “pump up” messages via connect or email. I will miss her greatly, but I know I will see her again. Our loss is Heaven’s gain – for there is no better place for an angel of love, peace and light.

My continued prayers are with you Pounder family.

I have read and listened to all of the wonderful heartfelt expressions about Amy, all of which are true. I have no way to describe in words just how wonderful of a person she really was and how much she meant to me personally. She was my best friend. More like a sister. I miss her so much everyday. I know within my heart of hearts that she is still with me and with God.

I had the honor and privilege of meeting Amy at TSA Fundamentals of Leadership in October. She was so vocal, vibrant and truly an inspiring person. I was lucky enough to be teamed with her on many occasions. I am so sad to hear of her passing. Although I did not know her well, I believe I was truly touched by her joyfulness and vibrancy!!
