Types of funerals

Traditional Burial Service

A Traditional Funeral Service is used to describe a funeral that consists of having the deceased placed in a casket, public visitation of the deceased, and a funeral service in our chapel or location of choice.

Following the funeral service, the deceased can be buried or entombed at the cemetery  you choose

Many Therapists, Clergy, and Funeral Practitioners agree that viewing of the deceased has great value to the healthy acceptance of the loss of a loved one.  At Hughes, we also encourage viewing but of course, respect the wishes of the families we serve.

Traditional Cremation Service

The option for cremation can also be selected which also includes having the deceased placed in a casket, public visitation of the deceased, and a funeral service in our chapel or location of choice.

You may choose a designated cremation casket to be used for the funeral or a rental casket may be selected.  Because Hughes owns our own Crematory you have the option of inurnment of cremated remains either day of the funeral or at a time selected by the family of the deceased.

Graveside Burial Service

This service is conducted in its entirety at the graveside in a cemetery of your choice.

You may also choose to have the Burial prior to the Memorial Service for those who wish for a Private Committal.  Hughes will provide chairs, a sound system for audio and PA system for the clergy; a canopy to provide shade and protection from the rain.

Alternative Service

We know that a funeral service is important in the grieving process; however, the “traditional” funeral might not be suitable for your family.

We offer alternative venues (golf clubs, parks, national parks, whatever you can imagine); any format for the funeral;  A wide variety of caskets and flowers are available.

Memorial Service

A Celebration of Life or Memorial Service is held after the burial or cremation of the deceased. It can occur a few days after the person passes or at a later time. Some people choose to have a Celebration of Life on the anniversary of the death of the deceased.

Simple Cremation

This is a basic cremation when the decision has been made not to have a ceremony.
